Taxis in the white village

Flowers in every doorway and streets painted white: Yaiza sits on the lava in the south, its centre crossed on foot in moments. The road rising towards Timanfaya National Park runs past it, and nearly all movement here follows that line — coming in, heading for the park, or dropping to the shore.

Square and church, with lava all around

The centre is laid out around the square and the church — whitewashed houses, local shops, everything within a short walk. Around it there are no beaches and no promenade: the landscape is fields and old lava flows. So the people who visit the village come by car, and the local taxi is what drops off and picks up at the points in the centre.

One rank in the village, one dispatch for three centres

The village has a signposted rank at the central points, but cars pass seldom: the municipality's fleet also covers Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero, where the demand sits. If there is no car, ring the Yaiza dispatch — it serves all three centres of the municipality — or ask at your accommodation.

What the park decides, not the taxi

The park sets its own rules: opening times, visitor limits and the conditions of each route come from the national park, not from the taxi and not from this portal. What you can settle is the run itself — go over it with the driver when you order, allow for the time you will spend inside, and check the official conditions before you leave home.

Crossing the interior to the white village

From the terminal the vehicle crosses the interior of the island to Yaiza, through vineyards and old lava flows. It is a medium-to-long run, so if you are arriving with bulky luggage or in a group, say what you are carrying when you ring the dispatch — not when the car is already in front of you.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find a rank in Yaiza?

At the central points of the centre, though cars come by seldom: the municipality's fleet is shared between the village, Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero. If you see no car, ring the Yaiza dispatch or ask at your accommodation. This portal handles no bookings.

Will the car take me into Timanfaya?

It will bring you as far as the entrance; entry to the park and the visits inside are regulated by the national park itself, with its own opening times, visitor limits and conditions. Ask the driver when you order the vehicle and check the official conditions before you set out.

Can I get straight from the terminal to Yaiza?

Yes — order a vehicle from the Yaiza dispatch on arrival, or take one from the rank at the terminal. The road crosses the interior of the island; the indicative figure on this page is a road estimate with a date, and the amount is set by the meter.

Is there a run from Yaiza down to Playa Blanca?

A common local journey, since both centres belong to the same municipality and share a dispatch. Even so, the car may be due another job afterwards: when you ring, say that you are going from the village to the coast, so that the right vehicle is assigned.
