Arranging a taxi with the dispatch

This portal makes no booking; it only explains. Read it for the number to ring in each municipality, the notice worth giving ahead of time and the points to settle before you count a transfer as arranged. The booking itself always happens with the dispatch of the municipality.

The number to ring is the local one

There is no number that covers the island, and the one belonging to the next municipality will not drive over to collect you. The rule holds wherever you are: ring the dispatch of the place you are leaving, never the place you are headed for.

How much notice is worth giving

For an ordinary journey, a call a short while ahead usually does it. For a departure in the small hours, tell them the night before and confirm again in the morning. Through August and over long weekends the fleet is stretched, and the margin you give changes the outcome.

What to settle before you hang up

Ask whether the price runs on the meter or has been agreed as a fixed sum; whether the car can take the cases you are bringing; and whether I.G.I.C. and the public holiday surcharges are already inside the figure they quote. Settle those before you hang up and there is nothing left to argue about on arrival.

Frequently asked questions

Does this website book the taxi for me?

No. Lanzarote.taxi is an informational portal and brokers no service. It takes no payments, confirms no places and has no agreement with any taxi company. The booking is made by calling the dispatch of the municipality directly. Ringing from Ireland? Add 0034, Spain's international dialling code, ahead of the number.

What if I need a car in the next few minutes?

Some operators will not confirm a booking made at short notice and send you to the phone for an instant service instead. If you need a taxi within minutes, ring — do not spend the time filling in a form.
