Special services, one by one

Beyond the ordinary fare: on this island you can order bigger vehicles, adapted vehicles and services that need advance notice. The six we cover are indexed below, each sketched in a line or two so you jump to the one that concerns you. Nothing here is contracted and nothing is booked — the portal only informs.

Services

What you can ask a taxi for in Lanzarote, and what sets each service apart.

Bigger cars and adapted cars

Where there are several of you, or more luggage than an ordinary car will swallow, the answer is usually an eight-seat taxi or a larger vehicle. The groups page sets out how many people and cases really fit and how to ask for the right vehicle; the adapted and reduced mobility page sets out what to say when you ring and what to flag before the car sets off.

Coming in late, or leaving early

The night service page covers departures in the early hours and the second fare that applies at those times, along with the notices worth leaving the evening before. The port and cruise page covers landing in Arrecife: where the taxi rank is, what happens when several calls coincide and how the transfer to your accommodation is organised.

Days out and events

A sightseeing tour runs as a half-day or full-day circuit settled with the driver before you set off, taking in the island's places of interest along the way. The events page covers weddings, celebrations and groups that need several vehicles at the same hour: how to prepare them, what information the dispatcher needs and how much notice to give.

Frequently asked questions

Does the portal take bookings for any of these?

No. Lanzarote.taxi is an informational portal: it takes no payments, confirms no places, has no agreement with any taxi company and charges no commission. Each of these services is requested directly from the dispatch of the relevant municipality.

When should I ask for a special service?

For an ordinary journey, not ahead at all. For groups, adapted vehicles, night departures or several cars at the same hour, notice in good time is what pays: the fleet of each municipality is limited and it fills up early on public holidays.
