Taxis at the marina
Everything in Puerto Calero is within a short walk: restaurants, shops and a water-side promenade around a marina north of Playa Blanca. So the taxi is not used to get about inside it. What it does is bring you in from outside, or take you the brief distance across to Playa Blanca.

On foot, all of it
The site is compact: pontoons, premises and parking are only a few steps apart, so almost nobody inside the marina needs a car. A taxi comes into it when you are arriving from outside, when a dinner has just finished and the walk to the far end of the walkway is not what you fancy, or when you have a flight to catch with suitcases in tow.
No rank here: you ring for a car
A permanent taxi rank is rarely found inside the marina, and the usual alternative is the Yaiza dispatch — the same one that serves Playa Blanca and the village of Yaiza. A word with reception at your accommodation or with the restaurant you are dining in is worth it too: they usually know who to ring and how the pick-up works. From Ireland, dial 0034 — Spain's international dialling code — ahead of the number.
A cross-island run to the terminal
From the terminal to the marina the vehicle crosses the island to the far south, so it is no short hop. Say so when you order rather than when you get in if you are arriving with diving gear, large suitcases or a group: they then send a car with the right boot instead of having to repeat the trip.
Across to Playa Blanca for what the marina lacks
For the beaches, supermarkets, the pharmacy or anything else the marina has not got, the usual move is on to Playa Blanca, next door along the same road. The journey is short, but say so when you ring: the car that collects you may have another job straight afterwards at the other end of the municipality.
Frequently asked questions
Will I find a rank standing in the marina? +
A permanent rank inside the marina is not usual. What people do is ring the Yaiza dispatch, or ask at your accommodation or the venue you are in, which usually knows the service. This portal handles no bookings: the notice goes to the operator.
Does a taxi run from the marina over to Playa Blanca? +
It does, and it is one of the commonest local journeys — the marina has not got all the services of the larger town. The ride is short, but the amount is set by the meter: that journey has no fixed price.
What should I arrange for the trip back to the airport? +
Order the vehicle with hours of notice from the Yaiza dispatch. It is a cross-island transfer, so leave margin against your flight time; the indicative distance figure on this page is an estimate with a date, not a promised time.
Will there be a car waiting after dinner? +
The restaurant area stays busy for much of the year, but that does not mean vehicles are waiting at the door. For the way back, ring the dispatch before you leave the table or when you finish — and bear in mind that the wait comes down to the cars free at that moment.
