On to the marina at the southern tip
South of Playa Blanca, still in Yaiza, the marina at Puerto Calero comes after it — and the route runs straight through that settlement without halting in it. Say the name carefully: get it slightly wrong and you are left in the neighbouring village instead.

Playa Blanca's road, and then past it
The car crosses the island to the south, enters the municipality of Yaiza and drives the length of Playa Blanca before carrying on along the coast to the marina. For most of the way it is the very road a passenger for Playa Blanca would take, and that is where the confusion starts: give only a generic accommodation name and the driver will assume that village is your destination. Say the marina when you get in — Puerto Calero, not Playa Blanca.
Getting set down where you mean
Villas, hotels and flats sit around the marina, which has a vehicular entrance and its pedestrian areas. For an establishment, carry the full name and the address; for a villa anywhere set back, a landmark — an entrance, a junction, the harbour itself — saves circling at the end. Drivers know the marina well, but not every private gate in it.
Notice matters more in the south
By day the airport queue handles this transfer without any effort. The picture changes for a small-hours arrival, for a group, or for anyone carrying diving or sailing gear: the fleet in the south is limited, and a vehicle with room is not always free when you need one. Ring the Yaiza dispatch beforehand — by phone, and settled with the operator.
Bus, hire car, or the last leg on foot
The bus reaches Playa Blanca, and from there the marina is completed on foot, by a local taxi or by car: awkward with cases, though perfectly workable if you are travelling light. For villas and flats in the south, hiring a car is the usual arrangement, because it also lets you get around the island without working to timetables.
Frequently asked questions
Is Playa Blanca on the way to the marina? +
Yes — the south road enters that settlement and only after that continues to Puerto Calero. That is why repeating the destination once you are inside the car is worth it. If your stay is in the marina, the turning you want is the one for Puerto Calero, not the one for the village.
Will it take me to a villa inside Puerto Calero? +
It will; the drop-off is the door you point to. Have the address written down — street and number, or the exact name of the development — because the villas in the south sit scattered and not all of them are signposted from the road.
And what about getting back from Puerto Calero? +
That depends on the moment and on what is free in the municipality of Yaiza. For a departure to the airport the careful course is to put it to the dispatch in advance rather than wait for a car to pass the marina.
