Crossing the island to the south
The vehicle leaves the airport enclosure, takes the road across the centre of the island and descends as far as Yaiza. The landscape changes along the way: vineyard fields at the start, volcanic ground and lava halfway, salt pans and sea at the end. It is a continuous journey with no detours, meant to drop you at the door of the accommodation.
When it is worth giving notice
For a normal arrival, the queue at the airport rank is the system provided and it is enough. It is worth telling the destination dispatch in advance if you land in the small hours, if you are travelling as a group or if you have more luggage than fits in an ordinary car: in the south the fleet covering Playa Blanca is the same one that serves the rest of the municipality.
Luggage and groups
As one of the longer transfers, it is common to arrive with large cases, child seats or a pushchair. Say so when you order the vehicle, not when you get in, so that one with a big enough boot is sent. If there are more passengers than the car's plate allows, a larger vehicle has to be requested: the driver may not exceed that number.
If the taxi is not for you
The coastal bus links the airport with the south, but less often than along the nearer coast and taking longer: it is worth it if you travel light and in no hurry. Car hire is the usual choice for anyone settling in Playa Blanca and planning to get around the island alone, though for a first arrival at the accommodation the taxi remains the most direct.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price of the transfer to Playa Blanca fixed? +
No. The indicative figure on this page comes from a published source with the date it was checked and is there to give you an idea; it is not a fixed fare. The final amount is set by the meter as it runs, and the official supplements apply according to the journey.
What do I do if I arrive on the last flight of the day? +
The rank operates according to the arrival schedule, so there should be vehicles. Even so, telling the Playa Blanca dispatch before you land brings peace of mind, especially if you are travelling as a group or with a lot of luggage. This portal handles no bookings: the notice goes straight to the operator.
Can I pay by card on this journey? +
In most vehicles, yes: they usually take card as well as cash, although it is not a general obligation, so carry some cash just in case. As it is a long run, tell the driver when you get in, in case the card machine needs battery or a top-up on arrival.
