Taxi from Lanzarote airport to Yaiza
Yaiza is the village that gives its name to the southern municipality and stands at the gates of the Timanfaya natural park. The journey from the airport runs along the main road south and ends in the village, not in the coastal tourist strip: it is worth knowing the difference before you give an address.

Map of Lanzarote
South as far as the village
The car leaves the enclosure, takes the south road and follows it into the municipality of Yaiza. The way passes beside the volcanic ground of the malpaís and reaches a village of narrow streets and white houses. For the drop-off, say whether it is in the village, at a rural accommodation nearby or in the Playa Blanca strip: those are different destinations and the driver needs to know before turning off.
If Timanfaya is what you want
The park is not a destination you simply get a taxi to: the visit is made along the park road using the services provided, by the park's own bus, on a guided tour or in a hire car. If you want a taxi to take you and wait, it has to be asked of the dispatch well in advance and the way the wait is paid agreed before setting off; the usual alternative is to book the excursion from your accommodation.
Give notice before you land
The Yaiza dispatch also covers Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero, so the fleet is shared between several centres. In the village there are few passing vehicles. If you are arriving late or as a group, give notice before the flight. This portal does not book: the call is made with the operator and the arrangement is closed there.
Other ways of getting there
The bus reaches the village, less often than along the coast and on timetables worth checking the day before. If your accommodation is out of the way, confirm how far the service runs. Car hire is the most comfortable way to explore the south; for arriving with luggage, the taxi at the rank is the most direct.
Frequently asked questions
Can the taxi take me as far as Timanfaya? +
It will drop you at the park entrances if you ask specifically, but the route inside is not an ordinary taxi service. To go round the park the park's own bus, an organised excursion or a hire car are the things to use; if you need a taxi waiting, leave it agreed with the dispatch long beforehand.
Are there taxis in the village of Yaiza to get back? +
Passing vehicles are few. For a particular pick-up — above all in the small hours or with luggage — call the Yaiza dispatch and leave the service settled in advance. Here, giving notice changes the outcome more than anywhere else on the island.
Is this the same journey as to Playa Blanca? +
No. They share the south road and the municipality, but the destination is different: Yaiza is the inland village and Playa Blanca the coastal strip. Say it clearly when you get in, because a destination misunderstood is corrected at the start and not at the end.
