Taxi from Costa Teguise to Puerto del Carmen
The two resort settlements on the east coast sit in different municipalities — Teguise and Tías — and are separated by Arrecife and the airport enclosure. This is a journey between two hotel zones, not an airport transfer, so what matters is knowing who picks up the phone and how the journey is set on the meter.

Map of Lanzarote
The east coast, one place to the next
The car leaves Costa Teguise, drops down the road towards Arrecife, crosses it and carries on along the south road to Puerto del Carmen. In the other direction the route is the same. It is not a continuous urban journey: you have to cross the capital, and at rush hour traffic is what lengthens it most.
Between two municipalities
Crossing from Teguise to Tías takes the journey outside the area of a single dispatch. If you order it by phone, always call the one for the departure point — Teguise in one direction, Tías in the other — because another municipality's will not collect you there. And when you get in, ask how the journey is set on the meter and whether the vehicle's return leg is taken into account: it is worth knowing before the meter runs on.
When the taxi is worth it
To move between the two centres by day, the bus is usually enough. The taxi is worth it when you are coming back at night, when you are a group, when you are carrying shopping or cases, or when the bus timetable no longer matches yours. It also makes sense if the accommodation is away from the stop and you are in a hurry. None of that is booked on this site: it is asked for on the spot or arranged by phone.
Bus and car hire
The coastal line serves both centres through Arrecife and is the natural choice by day, with the drawback that the service thins out in the afternoon and evening: check the time of the last bus before you set off. Car hire solves parking and the way back at any hour, and is the usual choice for anyone staying a few days and wanting to move without depending on anyone.
Frequently asked questions
Does the journey pass the airport? +
The south road runs beside the airport enclosure, but the airport is neither your start nor your destination: the airport supplement applies only to services entering or leaving the enclosure, so on this journey it adds nothing.
Can I order the taxi at the hotel door in both places? +
Yes. On the way out, ask at reception or call the Teguise dispatch; coming back from Puerto del Carmen, call the Tías one. Always give the full name of the accommodation and the address at the other end so that the reference price is realistic.
Is the taxi worth it against the bus? +
By day and with time to spare, the bus is enough and cheaper. At night, in a group or with luggage, the taxi avoids waits and changes. Many travellers use both: the bus to run along the coast and the taxi for the late way back.
Who confirms the service? +
The operator, with whom you speak directly. Lanzarote.taxi takes no bookings, charges nothing and has no agreement with any taxi company: this page is information so that you arrive at the call prepared.
