Taxi from Lanzarote airport to Órzola

Órzola is at the north-eastern tip of the island, in the municipality of Haría, and it is the port from which the ferry to La Graciosa leaves. It is a long journey from one end to the other, and it is almost always made with a ferry time in mind: here, planning the transfer matters more than at any other airport destination.

Map of Lanzarote

Up to the far north

The vehicle leaves the east coast, climbs towards the centre of the island and then drops down to the Haría valley and the port. The landscape passes from airport and fields to slopes, palm trees and low houses. The arrival is at the pier itself, so long as you say so: Órzola is small and the driver needs to know whether you are going to the port, to an accommodation or to a restaurant in the area.

If you are travelling to catch the ferry

Check the sailing timetable the night before: with a heavy sea the crossing is cancelled and it is not always reinstated the same day. If your journey depends on that sailing, leave margin and tell the driver the boat's time when you get in. The case travels with you in the car and comes out at the pier; the taxi does not wait inside the port area unless you agree it beforehand and pay for the wait.

The way back from Órzola

The return is not symmetrical: there are not as many passing vehicles there as on the coast. If you are leaving in the small hours for the airport, or after the last boat, call the Haría dispatch hours ahead and confirm in the morning. Waiting at the pier for a taxi to pass is a bad idea, especially in winter.

Other ways of getting there

The bus goes up to the north of the island less often than along the coast: it works if you travel light and with no tight schedule, but it leaves a stretch on foot with luggage. Car hire gives you more freedom to get around the north, although finding a space to park in the village in high season is hard. For a ferry connection, the usual choice is a taxi or your own car.

Frequently asked questions

Are there taxis in Órzola to get back to the airport?

Yes, but the northern fleet is smaller than the coast one and covers several centres in the municipality. For an early flight it is worth telling the Haría dispatch the day before and confirming in the morning; this portal does not make that arrangement, the call is direct.

Does the taxi wait for the ferry to sail?

Only if you agree it before you set off. The wait is paid for as waiting time, and nobody guarantees the boat's timetable: with a rough sea the sailing is cancelled, and that affects your plan, not the driver.

Can you take my luggage down to the pier?

Yes, say so when you get in and you will be dropped at the boarding point. If you have large cases or are travelling with a bicycle, mention it when you order the vehicle so that one with enough space comes out.
