Taxi in Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca occupies the southern end of the municipality of Yaiza and is the largest settlement on that tip of the island: a long seafront, several beaches spread along the coast and several residential areas set back from the sea. Here the taxi moves mainly between the promenade, the hotel complexes and those developments that lie behind.

A very long stretch of coast

The settlement is not concentrated in one spot: it runs along the coast, with beaches, developments and shopping areas set apart from each other. Walking it end to end is possible, but many people save the taxi for the long stretches and, above all, for the way back when it is getting dark or when you are returning with the shopping.

Where a rank usually is

The ranks signed with the black and white plate are spread along the promenade, at the entrances of the big hotel complexes and in the areas with the most shop traffic. When none is in sight, the usual route is to call the Yaiza dispatch: it serves the whole municipality, so the same service covers Playa Blanca, Puerto Calero and the village of Yaiza.

To and from the airport

This is the furthest southern destination from the terminal: the vehicle leaves the airport enclosure and crosses the island to the far south. If you arrive with large cases, child seats or as a group, say so when you order the vehicle rather than when you get in, so that one with a big enough boot is sent. The indicative distance figure is published on this page with its date; the amount is always set by the meter.

Journeys within the settlement

The commonest trips run from the promenade to the residential areas, from the accommodation to restaurants at the other end, or down to the beaches at the southern edge, away from the centre. For those short hops, mention when you call if you are carrying beach bags or long gear: not every vehicle has the same boot space, and that way the right one comes the first time.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a taxi rank in Playa Blanca?

Yes, there are signposted ranks spread along the promenade and the busier areas, but they are not on every corner. If you do not see one, call the Yaiza dispatch or ask at your accommodation, which usually knows the nearest pick-up point. This portal handles no bookings: the notice goes straight to the operator.

How long does it take from the airport to Playa Blanca?

It is one of the longest transfers on the island: the vehicle crosses the interior without stopping until it reaches the south. The indicative figure on this page is a road estimate with the date it was checked, there to give you an idea; it is neither a guaranteed time nor a fixed fare.

Do taxis run in winter in Playa Blanca?

The service operates all year, although in the quieter months fewer vehicles are circulating and waits can be longer. For early departures, night transfers or groups, telling the dispatch hours in advance is the sensible course.
