Frequently asked questions about taxis in Lanzarote
The doubts that come up most often, answered straight and with the date the figure was checked where there is one. If something is not here, the guides and the zone pages cover the rest.
The essentials in three lines
A taxi in Lanzarote is charged by meter, paid at the end of the journey and called through the dispatch of the municipality. There is no island-wide app, nor any private-hire service operating on the island. And this portal sells and books nothing: it only informs.
Frequently asked questions
Is there Uber or Cabify in Lanzarote? +
No. The island has no private-hire service operating, so the chauffeur apps are not an alternative. The real options are the taxi, the Intercity bus and car hire.
Is a tip obligatory? +
No. In Spain a tip is voluntary and is not included in the fare. If you were happy with the service it is customary to round up, but nobody is obliged.
Do Lanzarote taxis take large luggage? +
Public service vehicles have a luggage limit per passenger seat. If you are travelling with several large cases or with bicycles, mentioning it when you book avoids a vehicle arriving that cannot take them.
Can I travel with a pet? +
Pets may travel in any taxi provided they are in a carrier and do not disturb the other passengers; the vehicles licensed for it also accept animals without a carrier. Saying so when you call is the simplest approach.
